New Blow to the Popular Movement Party in Moulay Yaqoub: Fes Administrative Court Dismisses Idriss Ibn Al-Khatib from Mikes Commune

In a new development within the local political scene in the Moulay Yaqoub prefecture, the Primary Administrative Court in Fes issued a final ruling on January 15, 2025, dismissing Idriss Ibn Al-Khatib, an elected member of the Popular Movement Party, from his position on the Mikes municipal council and relieving him of his duties as first vice president of the council.

This ruling comes as part of strict oversight measures aimed at enhancing transparency and good governance at the local level. Informed sources confirmed that the dismissal was requested by the relevant authorities due to legal irregularities that necessitated the intervention of the administrative judiciary.

This marks the third dismissal of its kind targeting elected members of the Popular Movement Party in the Mikes commune, following the dismissal of Idriss Aakil and Hani Majdoub. This deepens the crisis within the party in the region and opens the door for a restructuring of the municipal council amid new developments.

This decision is part of a broader campaign targeting several communal officials in the Fez-Meknes region. The Administrative Court had previously issued similar rulings dismissing elected officials from other parties, reflecting the increasing rigor in enforcing laws regulating local governance.
