The judicial police in Marrakech, in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), has dealt a severe blow to a psychotropic drug trafficking network in the Red City. A large-scale operation led to the arrest of four individuals, including a pharmacist, and the seizure of a significant quantity of psychotropic drugs totaling 6,934 tablets.
The operation began with the arrest of a first suspect in the act in a neighborhood of Marrakech. A search revealed that he was in possession of 1,500 tablets of “Zepam.” Investigators quickly identified this suspect as a link in a larger criminal network.
The thorough investigation conducted by the police led to the identification and arrest of three other suspects, including a pharmacist. These arrests were followed by an additional seizure of 5,434 tablets, bringing the total number of seized substances to nearly 7,000 tablets.
The four suspects, aged between 25 and 33, were placed in police custody for further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigations are ongoing to identify potential branches of this criminal network and determine the full extent of the suspects’ illegal activities.
This security achievement is part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal trafficking of psychotropic and mind-altering drugs, which pose a risk to public health and are sometimes used in other criminal activities.
