As part of the joint regional plan between the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Initial Education and Sports, a sensitization and awareness campaign was organized yesterday, Tuesday, at the Tafah Foundation for Education and Training in El Hadjeb, targeting the presidents and heads of parents’ associations from various educational institutions in the region.
The meeting was supervised by the Regional Director of the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports and the Head of the Health Institutions Network Department on behalf of the Regional Delegate. The meeting was an opportunity to recall the content of the joint circular between the two ministries on the campaign to review and recover the vaccination of children under 18 years old, as well as the ministerial memorandum aimed at activating preventive measures to limit the spread of measles, which is considered highly contagious.
The regional official in charge of planning and tracking health programs and the head of the national vaccination program gave a presentation on measles, highlighting the importance of vaccination in preventing the disease and the epidemiological situation in the region, presenting the numbers of measles cases among students and the measures taken to limit its spread.
The meeting was also an opportunity to open a constructive discussion, where questions and opinions of mothers and fathers were answered, and misconceptions that may negatively affect the success of the vaccination campaign were clarified. It was emphasized that vaccination is the only safe way to prevent measles.
It should be noted that all regional and local authorities, under the supervision of His Majesty’s Governor of El Hajeb Province, are working in full coordination with the concerned sectors in order to succeed the objectives of the national vaccination campaign and ensure effective epidemiological vigilance.
