Educational Administrators Union Protests Against “Strike Law” in Fes

On Wednesday, February 5, “Fes News” witnessed a protest organized by members of the Regional Bureau of the Educational Administrators Union in front of the Regional Directorate in Fes. The protest was in response to what they called the “Strike Law,” which prohibits educational sector employees from exercising their right to strike and protest in defense of their rights and achievements. This protest came in response to a call from the union’s regional office for a national strike in opposition to this unjust law.

In a statement, the regional secretary of the Educational Administrators Union in the Fes-Meknes region stated that the union decided to support their colleagues in the regional office, given the lack of response from the regional directorate to the union’s demands, including issues related to poor management at the directorate level.

He pointed out several ongoing problems in the sector, such as the lack of response to ministry directives regarding the reassignment of educational administrators who were dismissed or requested to be relieved of their duties. He also highlighted significant issues related to internet connectivity at the directorate, which left some institutions “pioneers without the internet,” frustrating parents who had to travel to obtain certificates.

The union also called for regional intervention, pointing to external influences in decision-making within the regional directorate, which reflects a lack of transparency and fairness in managing files. Additionally, the union emphasized its efforts to address infrastructure deficiencies and support compensation for school principals.

The regional secretary vowed that the union would continue its struggle to achieve its demands, stressing that the union aims to engage with all relevant parties to reach fair solutions that respect the rights of educational administrators and contribute to improving the management of the educational sector in the region.
