Through joint security efforts, the Spanish Civil Guard arrested seven individuals suspected of being linked to the ISIS organization, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) of Morocco. These arrests were part of a series of actions aimed at combating extremism and terrorism in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Spanish Civil Guard, three of the suspects were arrested in the Toledo region, following information provided by the DGST about a group involved in extremist activities. The statement clarified that one of the detainees had been promoting jihadist rhetoric on social media, which led to the spread of this discourse among his supporters, including minors who were also arrested.
The security operations extended across several areas, including the provinces of Pontevedra and Madrid, where materials and propaganda promoting terrorist organizations, particularly focusing on suicide attacks, were seized. Additionally, videos inciting jihadist activity were discovered, aiming to train individuals in combat techniques and self-defense.
These operations were conducted under the supervision of the Central Investigating Court, in coordination with the National Court’s Public Prosecutor’s Office, with support from Europol, reinforcing international cooperation in combating terrorism and dismantling extremist networks.
This operation marks a significant step in combating terrorist threats, emphasizing the commitment of Spanish and Moroccan authorities to counter extremism and enhance national and international security.
