The regional police in Ouarzazate, in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, managed to arrest two individuals on Tuesday, January 21, who are suspected of being involved in fraud against those seeking to migrate.
The suspects allegedly defrauded six individuals under the pretense of facilitating their migration to Europe using fake employment contracts, extorting monetary amounts as advance payments. Investigations and inquiries led to their arrest in collaboration with the Royal Gendarmerie in the rural area of “Ait Aadi Boumalne,” near the city of “Kelaa Mgouna.”
Search and seizure operations related to this case resulted in the confiscation of a passport, copies of two identification cards belonging to other individuals, as well as a copy of an academic diploma and receipts for money transfers suspected to be proceeds from this criminal activity.
The suspects have been placed under police custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at uncovering all circumstances and details surrounding this case. This operation is part of the security authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat fraud targeting migration aspirants and reflects Morocco’s commitment to protecting its citizens’ rights.
