Minister Fatima Zahra Amour’s Speech in the Moroccan Parliament: A Comprehensive Vision for Boosting Tourism

During the public session of the Moroccan Parliament dedicated to oral questions, Minister Fatima Zahra Amour, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, presented a series of initiatives and strategies focused on supporting and strengthening the tourism sector in Morocco. She discussed the significant progress made in the sector, noting that the Kingdom is currently achieving great milestones in tourism, thanks to wise guidance and policies aimed at supporting tourism enterprises, encouraging investment in infrastructure, accommodation, and entertainment.

The Minister emphasized that the government launched the “Tourism Boost Program,” with a financial allocation of 720 million dirhams, aimed at supporting around 1,700 tourism businesses by 2026. The program focuses on improving the tourism offering by diversifying tourism products, which will contribute to creating new job opportunities and supporting economic development across various regions. The Minister explained that the program has three main components: the first focuses on investing in tourism promotion projects and classified accommodation, while the second addresses supporting tourism businesses in their transformation and development processes through technical assistance that covers up to 90% of the cost of technical expertise. The third component focuses on developing sustainable tourism by supporting projects valued at no more than 10 million dirhams.

In order to facilitate access to investment opportunities, the Minister also spoke about the “Bank Borm” platform, which includes 200 model projects across different regions of the country. This platform aims to provide financial and technical support to young investors who aspire to implement innovative tourism projects. The platform represents a significant step in facilitating the guidance and support process for ambitious tourism projects undertaken by many young people.

The Minister also highlighted the achievements made at the regional level, particularly through the “Sous-Massa” program, which aims to support small and medium-sized tourism enterprises. In this regard, contracts were signed with 96 project holders, and new calls for tourism projects were launched in areas such as Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Casablanca, and Fes-Meknes. She added that the ministry is working to activate similar programs in other regions to expand the scope of support and follow-up for tourism businesses across the country.

In conclusion, the Minister reaffirmed the ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the tourism sector and developing traditional industries and the social economy, contributing to sustainable economic development and positioning Morocco as a leading tourism destination. She clarified that the government is continually striving to enhance public-private sector cooperation through programs and initiatives aimed at improving the national tourism offer, creating job opportunities, and supporting local businesses.
