In a spirit of celebration and recognition, the “Moussaoui of the World” Association hosted a special ceremony yesterday, Tuesday, in the city of Fes to honor coach Abdelhaq Al-Katami, a prominent figure in the history of Fes football. Al-Katami, who played a pivotal role in training and developing goalkeepers, significantly elevated the standard of goalkeeping in Fes and left a lasting mark on several national teams, including Maghreb de Fès (MAS).
Although Coach Abdelhaq Al-Katami was unable to attend the Casablanca-based event due to health issues, the association ensured that the celebration was relocated to Fes, allowing him to be surrounded by family and friends. This thoughtful initiative reflects the association’s commitment to honoring the achievements of this dedicated individual who devoted his life to advancing Moroccan sports, particularly in the development of goalkeepers who represented MAS in various sporting arenas.
During the ceremony, Saad Barada, the association’s secretary general, praised this tribute, emphasizing that it is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to celebrate sporting talents in Fes. Barada highlighted that honoring Al-Katami is a recognition of his substantial contributions to the development of football in Morocco, especially in Fes.
Dr. Younes Al-Sharaibi also expressed great admiration for Al-Katami, describing him as a “legend” of Fes and commending his remarkable contributions to national sports. Al-Sharaibi called for further support of such initiatives that spotlight the achievements of sports figures who have rendered invaluable services to Moroccan football.
