Court of Appeal in Fes Sentences Three Fake Parking Attendants to Imprisonment

The Court of Appeal in Fes has issued a one-year prison sentence against three individuals who impersonated parking attendants. They were convicted on charges related to extortion, impersonation of parking guards, forgery and use of fake tickets, as well as fraud.

This ruling came after investigations confirmed the defendants’ involvement in exploiting public streets—considered public property—to achieve illegal profits by extorting car owners and demanding unlawful fees for parking.

Lawyer Abdel Rahman Baqouri emphasized in a post on his personal account that public streets are owned by the community, and car owners pay annual taxes that entitle them to park and move in public spaces without any additional fees.

Baqouri stressed the importance of reporting such illegal behaviors, urging citizens to contact the national police at the emergency number 19 if they experience any extortion, and encouraged them not to withdraw their complaints to ensure accountability for those involved.

This ruling reflects the determination of judicial and security authorities to combat negative phenomena targeting citizens in public spaces, sending a clear message about the necessity of adhering to laws and respecting public property.
