Anger of Governor Jamai Over Delay in National Road No. 8 Works

Governor Maad Jamai expressed his frustration during his recent visit to the Taounate region regarding the slow progress of works on National Road No. 8, which connects Fez and Taounate. He emphasized that the noticeable delays in the progress of the work negatively impact traffic flow and local development.

This road is a vital part of the region’s infrastructure, playing a crucial role in facilitating transportation and boosting the local economy. However, the governor pointed out that the construction is not proceeding at the required pace, necessitating urgent measures to ensure the project is completed on time.

Despite another ongoing project for the expressway between Fez and Taounate progressing well, delays in the national road remain a significant concern. Several challenges have been identified, such as relocating water and electricity networks and land expropriation, which affect the speed of completion.

Local authorities are striving to address these issues to improve the current situation and meet the needs of residents and investors in the area. Governor Jamai noted that he had been informed that 60 percent of the work had been completed, but he was surprised to find otherwise. He directed that efforts should be focused on accelerating construction, emphasizing the importance of communication between cities in the region as an added value for improving traffic flow for people and goods while reducing road risks.

The governor also stressed the need for those responsible for completing the road and overseeing it to adhere to agreed timelines and their verbal commitments. He expects that construction will be completed by the end of this year, 2025.
