7 Years in Prison for Notary Judge and Lawyer in “Real Estate Robbery Network” Case

The Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Fes issued prison sentences on Tuesday evening against 38 individuals involved in a network dedicated to seizing state and private properties. The sentences ranged from one to ten years of effective imprisonment, with the main defendant receiving ten years, his brother five years, while a notary judge from Sefrou was sentenced to seven years and a lawyer from Meknes to five years. Other defendants included notaries, municipal employees, a municipal advisor, and false witnesses, who received sentences between one and eight years.

The network, which included a judge, a lawyer, and a municipal advisor, was implicated in forging property documents to seize real estate, relying on false witnesses. Some members of the network were also accused of defrauding individuals seeking to emigrate by providing them with forged documents for a fee.

The dismantling of the network was based on precise information from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, leading to the simultaneous arrest of the defendants in several cities and the seizure of forged documents, counterfeiting equipment, and suspicious funds.

This case reveals the extent of corruption targeting public property and individual rights, reaffirming the authorities’ determination to combat such crimes firmly.
