Fez Hosts Training Course to Enhance Basic Health Services

The city of Fez witnessed an important event in the healthcare sector last week, as the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in Fez-Meknes organized an intensive five-day training course. This course, held from December 23 to 27, 2024, was supported by the Directorate of Hospitals and Mobile Care and funded by the Global Fund.

The training course targeted healthcare providers working in primary healthcare institutions affiliated with the regional delegations of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Fez, Meknes, Sefrou, Taza, and El Hajeb. It took place in the continuous training hall of the Regional Directorate, reflecting the growing interest in developing healthcare personnel in the region.

This initiative aims to achieve several main objectives, most notably enhancing the capabilities of healthcare providers in improving the Minimum Service Package (PMS) offered to citizens. The course also focused on the priorities of structured health programs, especially concerning HIV/AIDS prevention and the elimination of mother-to-child transmission.

Additionally, the course sought to promote a community participation approach, an important step towards improving the health status of the population and providing more effective basic healthcare. This orientation comes as part of efforts to establish Local Health Committees (CLS) at the level of primary healthcare institutions, which enhances participatory management and community mobilization in the health sector.

This training course is considered a significant step in the development of the Moroccan health system, as it seeks to ensure the provision of health services that better respond to the local needs of citizens. This initiative is expected to contribute to raising the level of healthcare in the region and enhancing the health system’s ability to face various health challenges.
