During the third National Car Rental Conference held in Taza on December 25, 2024, the President of the Car Rental Association in Taza and member of the Road Transport Union emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges facing the sector, particularly those related to insurance and legal issues that hinder the smooth operation of businesses.
In an exclusive statement, the union official said, “We discussed at this conference many pressing issues that affect the car rental profession, chief among them the problems related to insurance. We face difficulties dealing with specialized companies that do not provide adequate coverage for risks associated with accidents or emergency situations that may occur during the car rental period.”
The speaker also highlighted the issue of client guarantees, stressing that some customers do not adhere to agreed terms, causing disruptions for business owners. “We also discussed the problem of illegal car seizures, especially when accidents occur or when clients fail to make payments.”
One of the key issues raised during the conference was the unjustified seizure of vehicles, with some cars being impounded in unlawful ways, damaging business interests. “There are cases, such as a car owner in the eastern region who has had his vehicle seized for two years without being able to recover it, highlighting the legal complexities we face.”
The official emphasized the need for concerted efforts from all relevant parties, including government departments and insurance companies, to overcome these issues and achieve sector stability. “We are confident that cooperation and communication with officials can greatly contribute to finding effective solutions.”
Concluding his remarks, the speaker confirmed that the conference was successful in achieving its objectives of exchanging views and identifying common issues among professionals across different regions. He also mentioned that the National Union of Car Rental Professionals will continue to push forward with demands to the relevant authorities to ensure the rights of business owners and workers in this vital sector.
