In a significant step toward enhancing local law enforcement effectiveness, Kenitra’s police department announced the inauguration of a new-generation Command and Coordination Center on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. This facility marks a milestone in the city’s approach to managing security operations, leveraging advanced technologies and best practices for rapid and efficient response to threats and risks.
The primary value of this new facility lies in its ability to consolidate a range of security services under one roof. The center oversees various aspects of field security, from traffic safety and emergency response to urban surveillance via advanced camera systems. Designed to meet modern security standards, the facility relies on cutting-edge technology to ensure continuous monitoring of events and field activities, enabling swift and real-time responses to emergency calls.
One of the center’s standout features is its integrated system for receiving and processing emergency calls through hotline 19. The state-of-the-art infrastructure allows the center to handle multiple calls simultaneously and dispatch teams immediately, significantly improving response times. The facility is also equipped with a multifunctional operations room staffed by specialists who manage the vast influx of data and emergency calls around the clock.
This Command and Coordination Center is part of a broader program by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) aimed at enhancing police capabilities in major cities. Preceding Kenitra, cities like Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, and Fes have implemented similar models, which have proven effective in improving response efficiency and fostering better coordination among police units.
Complementing this effort, the DGSN last year provided Kenitra with a mobile emergency police unit equipped with advanced motorcycles and rapid intervention vehicles. This unit will work in tandem with the new center, forming a cohesive system designed to address the city’s security challenges effectively.
As this model is rolled out to other major urban centers, the goal is to enhance coordination between police units, reduce incident response times, and expand security coverage in critical areas. The new center represents a further step in bolstering police presence on Moroccan streets and delivering security services closer to citizens.
Through initiatives like these, the DGSN demonstrates its commitment to creating safer urban environments amid increasing security challenges in large cities.
