Swift Police Operation in Fez Leads to Arrest of Minor Suspected in Multiple Assaults

In a rapid and effective security operation, police forces in Fez apprehended a 17-year-old minor on Friday evening, November 8, suspected of involvement in a series of assaults targeting pedestrians in the “Talâa Sghira” area of the old city of Fez.

The suspect, known for previous criminal records, allegedly instilled fear among citizens in the public streets while under the influence of drugs. Armed with a knife, he reportedly intercepted passersby and threatened them with physical violence.

These attacks left several people threatened and injured, including a foreign tourist who sustained a minor bruise. According to security sources, the suspect committed these criminal acts with another minor accomplice, who remains at large.

The tourist police unit swiftly intervened after the incident, arresting the suspect shortly after the crime and confiscating the weapon used in the assaults. The detained minor was placed under investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor, while a search is ongoing for the second minor involved.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the security authorities in Fez to combat various types of crime and ensure the safety of both citizens and visitors.

This incident underscores the need for heightened community awareness regarding the dangers of drug abuse, especially among young people.
