Youssef Baba, First Deputy of the Moulay Yacoub Municipal Council, reported that a wild boar was spotted today, Wednesday, October 10, 2024, roaming freely in the Moulay Yacoub tourist center, specifically at the foot of Lalla Chafia mountain adjacent to the Oued Bousrouал area.
Baba explained that this is the second time a wild boar has appeared in the area, raising concerns among residents, particularly children, women, and the elderly, about potential attacks from this animal.
The First Deputy attributed the wild boar’s appearance in residential areas to several factors, including drought, lack of forest fodder, and urban expansion at the expense of green spaces.
According to the same source, local residents have called on the relevant authorities to intervene urgently to protect them and return the animal to its original forest habitat, especially given that Moulay Yacoub is a well-known tourist resort both nationally and internationally.
Baba pointed out that the lack of awareness about how to deal with these wild animals increases the potential risks to the safety of residents, visitors, and patrons of the Moulay Yacoub thermal baths.
