Berlin – German Minister for Digital and Transport Affairs, Volker Wissing, affirmed on Tuesday the importance of the partnership between Germany and Morocco in the field of transport, mobility, and railways. This came during the opening of the 14th edition of “InnoTrans 2024”, the international exhibition specialized in transport technology, held in the German capital, Berlin.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, the German minister praised the notable development witnessed in Morocco’s transport sector, highlighting the significant investments the kingdom is pumping into railway infrastructure. Wissing added that Morocco’s participation in this global event reflects its strong commitment to developing its transport system according to the latest international standards.
During his visit to the Moroccan pavilion, represented by the National Railway Office, the German minister was received by Mohammed Rabie Khlie, Director General of the Office, and Zohour Alaoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom to Germany. He was given the opportunity to explore the distinguished Moroccan exhibit, which combines modern technologies with design inspired by authentic Moroccan architectural heritage.
It’s worth noting that Morocco is participating in the exhibition with two pavilions: the first for the National Railway Office, and the second for the Industrial Cluster (MTI Cluster), which brings together a group of Moroccan and foreign companies operating in the kingdom’s railway sector.
The “InnoTrans 2024” exhibition, running from September 24 to 27, attracts 2,940 exhibitors from 59 countries, showcasing 226 global innovations over an area exceeding 200,000 square meters. The exhibition covers five main sectors: railway technology, railway infrastructure, public transport, interior design, and tunnel construction.
In concluding his statement, the German minister emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the transport field, praising the close relations existing between the relevant ministries in both countries.
