Under the high royal directives, Morocco continues its efforts to accelerate the construction of 16 major dams across the kingdom. These extensive projects are part of the national water strategy aimed at enhancing water security and improving water resource management.
Sidi Abou Dam in Taounate Province
Among these vital projects, the Sidi Abou Dam in Taounate Province stands out as one of the most significant. Located on the Sebou River, this dam will store 275 million cubic meters of water to meet the water needs of the population and economic activities in the region.
Project Progress Stages
- Completion of Excavation and Filling: The excavation and filling works for the dam have been completed, and work is underway on the accompanying infrastructure.
- Construction of Water Pumping Station: The construction of the water pumping station and distribution networks linked to the dam is in progress to supply the benefiting areas.
- Road Construction: Roads leading to the project site have been built to facilitate construction and transportation operations.
