Waste Crisis Chokes Marjah District in Fez: Residents Complain of Health Issues and Absent Officials

Fez – Local sources report that residents of the Marjah district in Fez are suffering from an escalating waste crisis in their area, leading to a noticeable deterioration in environmental and health conditions.

According to residents’ complaints, the situation in the neighborhood, especially behind Badr Middle School, has reached critical levels. Accumulating piles of garbage now pose a real threat to citizens’ health, particularly children and the elderly.

Some residents indicated that they have begun experiencing respiratory problems, attributing this to the spread of foul odors and dust resulting from decomposing waste. They also expressed their dissatisfaction with the complete absence of local officials in dealing with this crisis.

What makes the situation even more dangerous is that the affected area is surrounded by several educational institutions, including primary schools and Badr Middle School, putting the health of students and educational staff at risk.

Residents have appealed to local authorities and sanitation officials to intervene urgently to solve this problem. They are demanding intensified garbage collection efforts and regular street cleaning, in addition to taking preventive measures to avoid the recurrence of this phenomenon in the future.

We have not yet been able to obtain an official comment from the responsible authorities on this issue. However, informed sources confirmed that the municipality is studying an urgent plan to deal with the waste crisis in the city in general, and in the Marjah district in particular.

The eyes of Marjah district residents remain fixed on officials, hoping that the wheels of reform will move quickly to save the neighborhood from this worsening environmental and health crisis.
