Journalistic sources revealed today, Saturday, that elements of the Royal Gendarmerie have successfully dismantled a gang specializing in sheep theft in the areas of Ain Taoujdate, Ain Chkef, and Bensoda in the suburbs of Fez. This security operation came after receiving several complaints from citizens who had their livestock stolen.
According to available information, the case began when the owner of a small farm in Ain Taoujdate had a small calf stolen on Thursday night. The victim followed the thieves, who were riding a three-wheeled motorcycle, until they reached the rural commune of Ain El Beida, where he informed the Royal Gendarmerie, who managed to arrest the suspects.
Sources clarified that the accused are two brothers from the Ain El Beida commune who own a grocery store. However, after finishing their daily work, they would steal livestock from farms in Ain Chkef, Taoujdate, and other areas surrounding Fez, then transport their loot to a garage in Ain El Beida commune.
The search operation conducted by the Royal Gendarmerie resulted in the seizure of dozens of stolen sheep and cattle heads. Victims were called to identify and reclaim their livestock.
The sources confirmed that the suspects have been placed under custody at the gendarmerie station, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, to complete investigations and bring them before justice to determine their case.
This security operation comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the Royal Gendarmerie forces to combat crime and protect citizens’ properties in various regions of the kingdom.
