FIFA has announced the list of male and female referees who will officiate in the first round of the group stage of the men’s and women’s soccer competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the list featured the presence of Moroccan referee Bouchra Karboubi, who will take charge of the meeting between Japan and Spain, to be held at the Stade de Le Beaujoire in Nantes, within the Group C competitions.
Karboubi, along with her compatriot Fatiha Jermoumi, are the only two Arabs selected to referee women’s soccer at the Paris 2024 Games.
This achievement represents an important step towards strengthening the presence of Arab women in the field of sports refereeing, and a proof of the high competence of Moroccan female referees in the international arena.
Karboubi is one of the most prominent female referees in Morocco, with extensive experience in officiating matches at different levels, and has previously participated in several international tournaments, including the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and is known for her strong personality and decisive decisions, earning her great respect from players and spectators alike.
The Olympic football competition is set to kick off tomorrow, Wednesday, July 25, 2024, two days before the official opening ceremony of the Games.
