Local sources reported late this week the death of a 9-year-old girl who drowned in Oued Wargha on the outskirts of Taounate.
According to the preliminary data available, the girl had arrived in Taounate from Tangier with her family to visit their relatives, where she drowned while practicing swimming in the valley.
According to the sources, rescue teams from the Civil Protection recovered the girl’s body and transported it to the mortuary in Taounate.
The sources confirmed that local authorities have launched an urgent investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances of the incident.
