As part of the national campaign to purify political life in Morocco, the city of Fez has witnessed significant developments in a case related to illegal construction and violations of urban planning laws. Judicial and security sources have revealed new details in this case that has shaken political and administrative circles in the city.
According to the information received, the Regional Judicial Police Brigade summoned 26 individuals for preliminary investigation in the case. After the completion of initial investigations, the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Fez decided to place 13 individuals in police custody, while releasing the others under surveillance.
Among the most prominent detainees in this case is the president of the Jnan El Ward district in the Bab Ftouh area of Fez, who belongs to the “Al-Ahrar” party, along with one of his deputies. The arrests also included a number of real estate developers, local authority agents, and intermediaries, on charges of involvement in facilitating illegal construction, in clear violation of urban planning laws.
It is worth noting that the investigations also extended to a local authority official, who is being investigated under the judicial privilege procedure due to his position.
