The city of Fez witnessed a large-scale cleaning campaign in the Zouagha and Al-Anbara districts on Saturday, July 6, 2024. This initiative was directed by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region and supervised by the Pasha of Zouagha district and the head of the Al-Anbara administrative annexe.
The campaign kicked off at 7:30 AM, involving a joint committee comprising representatives from local authorities, “Ozone” company (responsible for cleaning services in Fez), Zouagha district, Fez municipality, along with auxiliary forces and authority agents.
The campaign included several measures:
- Demolition of two sheep pens in Sidi Al-Hadi Zouagha neighborhood, which contained 7 wooden houses and one cement house.
- Cleaning of Al-Anbara Street and Ain Smen Road from accumulated waste.
- Clearing Wad Al-Anbara Street in front of Al-Mustafa Mosque from street vendors.
- Removing street vendors from Zouagha main street and Bensoda Road.
- Implementing a stray dog control campaign, during which 15 dogs were captured and transferred to the municipal pound.
Local authorities announced a work program to clean all areas experiencing waste accumulation throughout July, covering several locations in both Al-Anbara and Zouagha administrative annexes.
This campaign was met with great approval from local residents, who praised the efforts of local authorities in improving the urban environment and enhancing public cleanliness.
It’s worth noting that this campaign is part of the ongoing efforts by local authorities to improve the quality of life in Fez and ensure a clean and healthy environment for all residents.
The local authorities have emphasized their commitment to continue such initiatives, aiming to maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Fez, one of Morocco’s most historic and culturally significant cities.
