In the draw for the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which was held on Thursday morning, the Jordanian national team, led by Moroccan coach Jamal Salami, was given a difficult group that included South Korea, Iraq, Palestine, Kuwait, and Oman, as this group became one of the most Arab groups in addition to the Jordanian national team.
The draw saw the Saudi national team placed in the third group, along with Japan, Australia, Bahrain, China, and Indonesia.
The matches will take place between September 2024 and June 2025, with the teams competing for 8 direct seats in the tournament to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, in addition to a seat in the World Cup playoff.
The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the World Cup, which means reserving 6 of the 8 seats available to the Asian Federation, while the third and fourth place teams from each group will be divided into two groups, where the leader of each group will qualify directly for the World Cup, while a decisive confrontation between the two second place holders will be held to win the seat in the World playoff.
The full results of the draw were as follows:
Group I: Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, UAE, Kyrgyzstan, North Korea.
Group II: South Korea, Iraq, Jordan, Jordan, Oman, Palestine, Kuwait.
Group III: Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, China, Indonesia.
