Fès, June 10, 2024 – The Land Development Committee of the Fès-Meknès Region held a meeting today, Monday, chaired by Ms. “Marième Hennini”, President of the Committee, as part of the preparations for the ordinary session of the Regional Council for July 2024.
The meeting was dedicated to studying a number of important projects included in the Regional Development Program 2022-2027, which aim to rehabilitate road infrastructure and improve the economic attractiveness of the region.
Road infrastructure rehabilitation projects
The projects studied in the meeting included:
- Special agreement projects for the rehabilitation of road infrastructure in the prefectures and provinces of the region: These projects aim to rehabilitate strategic road axes and improve the economic attractiveness of the region.
- Orbital road construction projects in the Taounate and Ifrane provinces: These projects aim to strengthen the road network, relieve pressure on the roads in the center of the two provinces, and develop neighboring areas.
- Bridge construction project on the Ouerha Dam between the Taframant commune in Taounate province and the Azghane commune in Ouezzane province: This project aims to promote economic, social and tourist development in the two regions, link their territorial areas, and reduce distances between the region and the northern cities via Ouezzane.
Evaluation of the implementation of the Regional Development Program
The meeting also reviewed the evaluation report on the implementation of the Regional Development Program, where the members of the committee were informed about the progress of the projects included in the contract-program between the State and the Region 2020-2022 and the Regional Development Program 2022-2027, the main performance indicators, as well as the resources allocated to the projects and the performance rate of the allocated credits, in accordance with Articles (17) and (18) of the decree on determining the procedure for preparing, monitoring and evaluating the Regional Development Program.
Attendance of representatives of decentralized administrative services
In addition to the members of the Land Development Committee, the meeting was also attended by representatives of decentralized administrative services and regional management frameworks.
Conclusion
This meeting comes within the framework of the Fès-Meknès Region’s keenness to implement its development program and enhance the attractiveness of the region’s territorial area, through the rehabilitation of infrastructure and the development of various sectors.
