As part of its artistic tour to several prison institutions with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, as part of the partnership and cooperation agreement linking these two sectors in the field of prisoner reintegration, developing the spirit of citizenship and sense of belonging to the country and defending its sanctities and just causes, Al Shihab Theatre Company visited on Wednesday, 5th June 2024, the local prison of Bourkaize in Fez to present its outstanding play: ‘made in Morocco’, which this time targeted the female inmates of the institution, a play written by Jawad Khoudi and directed by Saad Tesouli.
The play depicts the path of two Moroccan citizens who end up sharing a tent/dormitory in the Tindouf detention centre In the Tindouf detention centre on the Moroccan-Algerian border, two citizens from two different social classes:
Al-Arabi, an electrician from the fifth year of primary school in the city of Tantan, who became a trader in the contraband trade (counterbond), and the fiancé of Zubaida, the daughter of his neighbour Salik, who is yet to tie the knot, as Al-Arabi is kidnapped by a Polisario gang along with his parents on their way to his fiancée’s house to make wedding arrangements.
Rabih: A university professor with a PhD in chemistry, Rabih is the husband of Farida, a Pilote pilot, with whom he has two children, Ghaitha and Haitham. Rabih was kidnapped in New York, where he gave a lecture at the invitation of the university community there, then taken to Cuba, then to Algeria, then to Tindouf, where he was injected daily with a substance that affects mental faculties and normal psychological balance, in retaliation for not cooperating with the Polisario by making use of his scientific competencies, especially in making explosives and chemical weapons, to be used against the soldiers and army of his country, Morocco.
The play was well-received and well-received by the inmates of the institution who benefited from the mentioned cultural activity.
