On the 19th anniversary of the launch of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), a ceremony held at the Ismailia Agdal Annex highlights the importance of this initiative in promoting human and social development in Morocco. Under the patronage of Abdelghani El Sabar, Governor of the Meknes Municipality, the achievements and future steps of this ambitious programme were highlighted.
Since its inception, the NHDI has sought to achieve tangible progress in vital sectors such as education, resulting in the completion of 289 projects at a total cost of 25,186 million dirhams. The NHDI Fund played a major role in financing these projects, contributing nearly 128 million dirhams, representing 6.21% of the total cost.
The completed projects include improving the infrastructure of educational institutions, providing school transport, and supporting primary education, which are crucial steps towards achieving quality and inclusive education for all children in Morocco. Mr Sabbar emphasised the importance of these projects in strengthening the education sector and providing equal opportunities for success for all students.
The National Initiative for Human Development is not only limited to the material aspects of development, but also includes intangible aspects such as enhancing personal capacities and skills. In this context, emphasis has been placed on programming projects aimed at supporting primary education in rural areas, improving reception and school transport infrastructure, as well as projects that promote school health and support children with disabilities.
As efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals continue, the NHDI is an example of a commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens and fostering socio-economic growth in Morocco. As it celebrates its 19th anniversary, Morocco looks forward to a bright future as more achievements are made under this pioneering initiative.
