The 16th session of the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture kicked off this Saturday morning, in the spiritual capital of the Kingdom, which continues from April 20 to 27, under the slogan “Know Yourself.”
The festival will host a round table on the management of spiritual affairs in international relations: What is wisdom in our current era, before moving this evening to the historic machine door, which will witness the opening ceremony.
The first part of the opening of this edition will be performed by: Yaya Maa El Ainine (Morocco), Sini Camara (Senegal), Fatou Mint Engadi (Mauritania), and Yahya Hussein Abdallah from Tanzania.
Festival President Fawzi Al-Sakli stressed that the festival is more than just a simple cultural event, it embodies a living reflection. He added that the Socratic motto “Know thyself”, which also resonates in Sufism, is the main theme of this year’s programmes. He also stated that planning revolves around this foundational concept for a wide range of cultural events that provide festival goers with a rich and diverse experience. He pointed out that the 2024 edition is characterized by a large African presence, especially from Mauritania, Senegal and Tanzania, as well as the participation of Asian countries such as Pakistan, India, and many European countries.
