Hungary praised, on Wednesday in Rabat, the Royal Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in November 2023, aimed at facilitating the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.
In a joint statement signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto, Morocco and Hungary emphasized “the importance of security and prosperity in the Sahel region”, commending the initiatives launched by each party to improve stability, the economic situation, and enhance regional connectivity.
Hungary praised “Morocco’s role as a hub of stability and a driver of growth and development in Africa”, according to the joint statement.
The ministers also discussed “the importance of exploring ways to establish tripartite partnerships between Morocco, Hungary, and their partners in the African continent”, capable of implementing joint projects for sustainable economic development in African countries, and providing common solutions to the challenges they face, especially in the areas of security, stability, migration, and socio-economic development.
These discussions reflect the two countries’ keenness to enhance international cooperation and provide an integrated approach to addressing common challenges in the African continent, with a particular focus on supporting Sahel region countries.
It is worth noting that the Royal Initiative praised by Hungary aims to open new horizons for cooperation and economic development for the benefit of Sahel countries, by facilitating their access to the Atlantic Ocean and enhancing opportunities for commercial and economic exchange.
