BAMAKO – Mali’s Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Youba Ba, received in his office on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the President of the Moroccan Professional Poultry Association, Youssef Alaoui, who is visiting Mali to participate in the International Poultry Exhibition in Bamako.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed ways to develop the livestock sector, with a focus on poultry farming. Alaoui presented an overview of the “Green Morocco Plan” experience, which enabled the kingdom to achieve self-sufficiency in dairy, meat, and poultry sectors.
Alaoui revealed Morocco’s annual need for one million tons of corn, proposing a strategic partnership with Mali to meet these requirements. He also introduced an initiative to establish a poultry feed factory in Mali, calling for support of the Malian Professional Poultry Association (FIFAM) in the areas of health systems and regulatory legislation.
For his part, the Malian Minister welcomed the Moroccan proposals, confirming the existence of a regulatory framework that will be implemented in this field. He indicated that his country possesses vast agricultural lands capable of meeting the corn needs of Morocco and other African countries, expressing his full support for the poultry factory project that will contribute to developing this vital sector.
This meeting comes as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and exchanging expertise in agricultural and livestock fields, serving common interests and supporting food security in the region.
