Thanks to the personal and on-site follow-up of the Governor of Taounate Province, Mr. Salah Ad-Daha, the construction project of Ar-Ratba Dam is witnessing notable progress, with the completion rate reaching about 27% since work began in March 2022. This dam, costing 4 billion dirhams, is the second largest dam in the kingdom after Al-Wahda Dam, and is distinguished by its storage capacity of up to 1.9 billion cubic meters of water.
This strategic project aims to enhance drinking water and irrigation supplies in the region, in addition to producing hydroelectric power. It is part of the national program to strengthen water security for the period 2020-2027. The project is expected to be completed a full year ahead of schedule, thanks to the continuous efforts of the province’s governor and the coordination of all stakeholders, under the supervision of the Public Laboratory for Testing and Studies to ensure quality implementation according to the latest global standards.
This project will constitute a qualitative leap in improving water and economic conditions in Taounate Province, which will greatly benefit the population and the agricultural sector.
