Moroccan Resident in America Accuses Authority Agent in Suburban Fez of Extortion

Fez – Fez News

A letter received by “Fez News” newspaper from one of its readers living abroad revealed a controversial incident involving allegations of extortion and exploitation by an authority agent in a suburban community of Fez.

According to the source of the letter, a Moroccan citizen residing in the United States of America, he was subjected to what he described as “extortion” by a local official in one of the communities near Fez. The citizen claims that the official initially refused to sign a declaration of honor necessary to obtain an engagement certificate, which is a required document to complete marriage procedures and allow his future wife to join him in America.

The complainant added that when he returned hours later to try to obtain the signature on the certificate, the agent asked him for 600 dirhams as “coffee money,” which the complainant considered an attempt at bribery, affirming that he refused this request.

The citizen indicated in his letter that he intends to go to the governorate headquarters on Monday to inquire about the legal procedures followed in such cases, questioning what is happening in “the state of law, order, and human rights,” as he put it.

“Fez News” was unable to independently verify the validity of these allegations. It should be noted that such accusations require an official investigation by the competent authorities to determine the truth of what happened and ensure the application of the law.

“Fez News” continues to follow the developments of this case and will inform its readers of any updates on this matter.
