A special source for “Fes News” reported that the city of Fes is preparing to receive an upcoming royal visit with the start of the new school year. This visit comes within the framework of King Mohammed VI’s follow-up of ongoing development and educational projects, including the initiative to distribute one million school bags, which the King launched several years ago, aiming to support education and ensure equal opportunities for all students in various regions of the kingdom.
A financial envelope of 204 million dirhams has been allocated for this initiative, mainly funded by the credits allocated to the National Initiative for Human Development, in addition to contributions from the concerned authorities and institutions, local communities, and credible bodies and associations.
The initiative aims to generalize schooling and ensure the enrollment of all successful students in the primary certificate in the first year of middle school, while providing direct support to needy families. The initiative targets students from rural communities and urban neighborhoods targeted by the National Initiative for Human Development, as the process includes 6076 educational institutions distributed across 403 rural communes and 264 urban neighborhoods.
454,467 students in urban areas (45%) and 455,533 in rural areas (55%) will benefit from this initiative, totaling one million students, including 900,000 in primary school and 100,000 at the first level of middle school.
This royal initiative reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to promoting educational justice and providing the necessary support to ensure equitable education for all children in Morocco, especially in remote and needy areas. The royal visit is expected to give a new impetus to this initiative and other development projects, thereby enhancing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the education sector.
