In a precise security operation that shook the city of Fez, the National Brigade of Judicial Police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, successfully dismantled a dangerous gang this Tuesday, August 13th. The gang, consisting of eight individuals aged between 30 and 40 years, included a nationally wanted person.
They were arrested on charges of blackmail, forgery, and using falsified documents while impersonating official figures.
Initial investigations revealed that the gang had been exploiting citizens’ trust by forging parking tickets, using the visual identity of the Fez Municipal Council. The gang members also wore fake uniforms bearing the council’s name. Their crimes extended beyond forgery, as they used these counterfeit tickets to extort money from vehicle owners, issuing fake receipts in return, tricking victims into believing they were receiving legitimate parking protection.
During the arrest, the police seized a large quantity of forged tickets, along with fake uniforms, hats, vests, and identity cards and stamps belonging to private companies, suspected to be used in facilitating their criminal activities.
The suspects have been placed under judicial custody by order of the competent public prosecutor’s office as the investigation continues. Authorities expect to uncover more details about the gang’s operations and the full extent of their criminal activities as the investigation proceeds.
