Informed sources have reported that administrative changes may soon occur at the Italian Consulate General in Casablanca. The information suggests the possible termination of duties for the current Consul General, Marco Silvi, along with several senior staff members at the consulate.
According to these sources, this potential change comes in the wake of multiple complaints received by the Italian Embassy and Foreign Ministry regarding the consulate’s management and difficulties faced by citizens and professional bodies in visa application procedures.
The sources also indicated that an Italian inspection committee is expected to arrive in Casablanca in the near future to investigate a number of alleged irregularities within the consulate. This may include the possibility of replacing the company currently responsible for processing Italian visa applications.
It is worth noting that the Italian Consulate General in Casablanca has reportedly been experiencing weekly protests due to what has been described as complications and issues in the visa application processing system.
