Moroccan security authorities successfully thwarted a major drug smuggling attempt in the city of El Jadida on Friday, August 2nd, in a sophisticated operation carried out by the Regional Judicial Police Service in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of hashish, amounting to three tons and 18 kilograms, as well as the arrest of two brothers suspected of involvement in a criminal network specializing in drug trafficking through international maritime routes.
The operation took place in the rural area of “Dahajda Sahel” near the city of Oualidia, where the suspects were caught in possession of 76 packages of hashish. Significant logistical equipment was also seized, including an inflatable boat, marine engines, fuel barrels, and navigation equipment.
A security source stated that the suspects, aged 38 and 43, have been placed in police custody for interrogation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation aims to uncover more details about this criminal network and identify other individuals involved.
This operation comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance to combat international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, affirming Morocco’s commitment to fighting this scourge and protecting the security of citizens and society.
