Throne Day / King Mohammed VI presides over the swearing-in ceremony of officers graduating from military and paramilitary high schools in Tetouan

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of officers graduating from various military and paramilitary schools and institutes, as well as non-commissioned officers promoted to the rank of officer.

On this occasion, His Majesty the King, may God protect him, gave the name of His Royal Highness Princess Lalla Latifa to this regiment.

After saluting the flag to the tune of the national anthem, His Majesty the King delivered the following speech:

“Praise be to God, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God and his family and companions.

Officers.

We are pleased to express our congratulations to you on your graduation from various military, security and territorial schools and institutes.

We are pleased to preside today over the swearing-in ceremony in front of His Majesty, in our capacity as Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

We have decided to name your regiment after our mother, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Latifa, God rest her soul, in recognition of the Moroccan mother and her role in educating generations on morality and our authentic spiritual and national values.

We are confident that you will fulfill your national duty with the efficiency and competence of our Armed and Security Forces, as well as the national jealousy and attachment to the sacredness of the nation.

May God help you to live up to our expectations of integrity, discipline, loyalty and fidelity to your immortal motto: God, Country, King.

May God’s peace, mercy and blessings be upon you.”

Following the swearing-in ceremony, His Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, saluted the flag of the Royal Armed Forces, before reviewing the various regiments of officers who took the oath.

The officers participating in the swearing-in ceremony belong to the 2024 graduating classes of military and paramilitary schools and institutes, as well as the classes of non-commissioned officers who were promoted to the rank of officer in 2023 and those who were unable to take the oath in previous years.

The cohort that took the oath is made up of officers who graduated from higher military schools.

These are:

  • Royal Military Academy.
  • Royal Air School
  • Royal Naval School
  • Royal School of Military Medical Services. Added to these categories of reserve officers are graduates of the following paramilitary higher schools: -Mohammedia School of Engineers. -The Royal Institute of Territorial Administration. -Royal Institute of Police. -The National School of Forestry Engineers. -Customs Training School.
  • National School of Civil Protection.

This cohort also includes special corps officers and non-commissioned officers who have been promoted to the rank of officer and officers who were unable to take the oath in previous years, belonging to the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces.

On this occasion, HM King Mohammed VI conferred new ranks on a number of officers who were promoted in 2024.

Earlier, on July 29 at the Royal Palace in Tetouan, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, had received the promotion committee of the Royal Armed Forces.

The promotion committee, chaired by Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, presented to HM the conclusions and results of its work on the promotion of officers and non-officers.

The promotion committee expressed to His Majesty, on behalf of the Royal Armed Forces, its deep appreciation and great pride in the Royal patronage, guidance and instructions that inspired and guided the work of this promotion committee during all its phases.

The committee’s conclusions and the schedule of promotions were approved by His Majesty the King, who instructed him to convey His Majesty’s congratulations to those promoted and urged all members of the Royal Armed Forces to remain dedicated to their noble mission in fulfillment of the immortal motto “God, Country, King”: God, Country, King.”

The swearing-in ceremony was attended, in particular, by the Prime Minister, the presidents of the two chambers of Parliament, His Majesty’s advisors, members of the government, senior officers of the Royal Armed Forces High Command, military attachés of foreign embassies accredited in Rabat, and several civilian and military figures.
