Prime Minister of Morocco, Aziz Akhannouch, chaired a meeting in Rabat on Monday dedicated to the seventh general census of population and housing, scheduled for the end of summer.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit and High Commissioner for Planning Ahmed Lahlimi Alami. During the meeting, Akhannouch recalled the content of the royal letter that outlined the guidelines to ensure the success of this important operation.
The Prime Minister affirmed that “the government will spare no effort to ensure the means for the full success of this operation of national importance and its organization within the set deadlines, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.” He emphasized the importance of the upcoming census results in developing relevant public policies and aligning various programs with citizens’ needs.
In line with the High Royal Directives, Akhannouch called on all concerned administrations, public institutions, and decentralized services to demonstrate serious involvement and close coordination to ensure the success of organizing the seventh general census of population and housing.
The meeting addressed various practical arrangements related to organizing the census operation, in light of the High Directives contained in the royal letter addressed to the Head of Government. These directives aim to ensure an innovative operation in terms of approach and technological means that will be mobilized for information collection and processing, and ambitious by expanding research areas to include new topics, such as the structural societal project of social protection.
The royal letter had emphasized the valuable contribution of the results of the upcoming general census of population and housing to “the realization of our societal project and the proper deployment of our development model, built on the principles of political democracy, economic efficiency, human development, and social and territorial cohesion.”
This census is considered a crucial mechanism for a detailed understanding of the Kingdom’s demographic and socio-economic evolution and for developing relevant policies at both national and local levels.
