Fez Development Company Director, Under Interior Minister’s Instructions, Launches Major Project to Upgrade Surveillance Cameras with High-Speed Fiber Optic Technology

Despite experiencing a sudden health issue, the Director of Fez Development Company continues his personal and precise monitoring of major strategic projects in the scientific capital, primarily the surveillance camera infrastructure modernization project. This project was recently launched under direct instructions from the Interior Minister to enhance the city’s security readiness and secure urban spaces according to the highest technological standards.

According to a responsible source within the company, this new project, with a budget exceeding 40 million dirhams, will create an unprecedented qualitative shift in smart surveillance. The system will utilize high-speed fiber optic networks, enabling real-time transmission of images and data with high resolution.

The project aligns with the future vision of transforming Fez into a smart and secure city. Field work on infrastructure has already begun, including micro-trenching operations, fiber optic cable installation, and the mounting of dozens of smart poles and connection centers, in full coordination with local and security authorities.

This advanced system is expected to cover various sensitive points throughout the city and improve the effectiveness of security interventions, especially given the increasing challenges related to urban mobility, public space management, and crime prevention.

The Fez Development Company oversees this project in partnership with the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, as part of a series of major development projects in the city, in preparation for upcoming international events.
