In a move that reflects Morocco’s commitment to strengthening governance mechanisms and combating corruption, King Mohammed VI appointed, on Monday, Mohamed Benalilou as the President of the National Authority for Probity, Prevention, and the Fight Against Corruption (INPPLC).
This appointment comes within a context where Morocco places paramount importance on combating corruption, considering it a major obstacle to economic and social development.
A Career Rich in Experience and Competence
Mohamed Benalilou possesses a career rich in experience and competence, having previously served as the Ombudsman of the Kingdom. He is a judge with a master’s degree in law, and has held high-ranking positions in the judiciary and judicial administration.
Benalilou graduated from the Higher Institute of Magistracy in Rabat and worked in several courts, including the Court of First Instance in Tangier, the former Special Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal in Rabat.
He also held leadership positions within the Ministry of Justice, where he served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Justice and Freedoms (2012-2014), Advisor on Criminal Policy (2012-2014), Director of Studies, Cooperation, and Modernization (2014-2016), and then Director of Human Resources (2016-2018).
Extensive Experience Serving the Fight Against Corruption
Thanks to his extensive and diverse experience, Benalilou possesses in-depth knowledge of the Moroccan judicial and administrative system, which will be a valuable asset in his leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Authority.
Combating corruption requires a comprehensive approach that combines prevention, awareness, and enforcement. Benalilou’s experience will enable him to implement an effective strategy to combat this scourge, in collaboration with the various components of the judiciary and other relevant authorities.
