The Digital Content Observatory has expressed its full support for the statement issued by the Bayt Al Hikma Association, which emphasized the urgent need to counter organized digital campaigns of incitement and defamation targeting state institutions and public figures.
The Observatory stressed that the Association’s warnings highlight the growing danger of hostile discourse spread by certain groups under the pretense of defending rights and freedoms, while in reality, they fuel hate speech and threaten stability.
Furthermore, the Observatory commended the Association’s call for the Public Prosecutor’s Office and judicial authorities to intervene by shutting down inciting platforms that jeopardize digital security and social peace. It also underscored the necessity of adopting advanced monitoring technologies to track and identify the entities financing and supporting these activities.
Concluding its stance, the Observatory reaffirmed that protecting the digital space from manipulation and misinformation is a collective responsibility, requiring the collaboration of civil society and authorities. It emphasized that addressing these threats is an integral part of advancing reforms and upholding democratic and pluralistic values.
