A viral video documenting an assault on the head of the 7th administrative district in Temara has sparked widespread outrage and intense public reaction, with media sources later revealing further details about the incident.
The attack took place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, following a routine operation led by the official to clear public spaces from unauthorized street vendors. During the campaign, authorities confiscated goods and transferred them to the municipal impound lot.
However, one affected vendor refused to accept the decision and headed to the administrative office, accompanied by his brother, wife, and a colleague, in an attempt to reclaim his merchandise. The situation quickly escalated into a violent altercation between one of his companions and members of the auxiliary forces and administrative staff, while the official observed the scene closely.
In a sudden turn of events, the vendor’s wife—a Moroccan immigrant residing in Spain—slapped the official twice in the face after he attempted to prevent her from recording the altercation. She reportedly mocked her actions despite repeated warnings from bystanders about the consequences.
Following the incident, the street vendor, his brother, wife, and colleague were arrested and brought before the public prosecutor at the Temara Court of First Instance on Friday, March 21, 2025. They now face charges of “insulting public officials” and “violence against an official,” leading to their detention pending trial, scheduled for Wednesday, March 26.
The case has reignited debates about attacks on government officials while performing their duties, with growing calls for stricter penalties to uphold the rule of law and reinforce the state’s authority.
