Launch of New Manchester-Rabat Flight Route

Manchester Airport has announced that Irish airline Ryanair will launch a new flight route connecting Manchester to Rabat, starting March 30. The flights will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, making Rabat the fifth Moroccan destination accessible directly from this northern England airport, alongside Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir.

On its official website, Manchester Airport highlighted Morocco’s growing appeal as a tourist destination for British travelers. In 2024, nearly half a million passengers traveled from Manchester to Morocco, compared to 275,000 the previous year, reflecting increasing demand for this destination. Stephen Turner, the airport’s Commercial Director, emphasized that Morocco has become an increasingly popular destination for residents of northern England, describing Rabat as offering “an unforgettable experience” that is sure to be “highly appreciated by passengers.”

The launch of this new route has been widely covered by the British press, which praised the charms of the Moroccan capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. The Sun described Rabat as a “discreet coastal gem,” brimming with attractions such as the Kasbah of the Udayas, the old medina, the Bouregreg River banks, and the iconic Hassan Tower, a symbol of the city since the 12th century.

The publication also highlighted Rabat’s quiet and authentic character, which contrasts with more popular tourist destinations. Similarly, The Chester Standard emphasized the diversity of Rabat’s attractions, ranging from “golden sandy beaches and picturesque sites to gastronomy, grand architecture, and a long, fascinating history.” Thanks to this new route, the Moroccan capital is expected to attract an even wider audience, particularly those seeking a destination that combines culture, relaxation, and discovery.
