Rabat: 4,000 Smart Cameras with AI and Facial Recognition to Be Installed by End of 2025

By the end of 2025, the Moroccan capital, Rabat, will witness the installation of an advanced video surveillance system equipped with cameras featuring artificial intelligence and facial recognition technologies. This project, with a budget of approximately 100 million dirhams, aims to enhance urban security, improve incident management, effectively combat crime, and ensure better living conditions for citizens.

The smart cameras will be equipped with advanced features, including license plate recognition, monitoring individuals in public spaces, and continuous vehicle tracking. Additionally, data centers compliant with international standards will be established to ensure secure information management.

A tender was launched for the project’s implementation, with the technology company “Finatech Group,” based in Casablanca, winning the first part of the project, which involves equipping command and data collection centers, for an amount of around 34.8 million dirhams. The second part, related to the installation of the video surveillance system, was awarded to “Al Omra Group International” for 73.8 million dirhams. This phase includes the installation of advanced cameras such as pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, facial recognition cameras, and long-range cameras to provide comprehensive coverage of public spaces.

This project represents a strategic step toward enhancing urban security in Rabat and developing technological infrastructure, reflecting the authorities’ commitment to improving quality of life and ensuring citizen safety.
