Morocco’s Interior Ministry Cancels 22 Administrative Certificates to Simplify Procedures

Rabat, March 17, 2025 – Morocco’s Ministry of Interior has announced the elimination of 22 administrative certificates previously required for various official transactions, as part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to modernize its administration and streamline bureaucratic processes. This move, effective immediately, aligns with the provisions of Law No. 55.19 on the simplification of administrative procedures and formalities, marking a significant step toward enhancing public service accessibility.

Certificates Eliminated

The canceled certificates include a range of documents related to personal and family status, reflecting a comprehensive overhaul aimed at reducing administrative burdens. The list, detailed in a ministry statement and shared on X, includes:

  • Certificate of Singleness
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Certificate of Individual Life Status
  • Certificate of Collective Life Status
  • Certificate of Family Responsibility
  • Certificate of Marriage Confirmation
  • Certificate of Family Relationship
  • Certificate of Sole Marriage
  • Certificate of Polygamy
  • Certificate of Identity Verification
  • Certificate of Non-Divorce
  • Certificate of Continuity of Marital Life
  • Certificate of Widowhood
  • Certificate of Customary Status
  • Certificate of Choice of Family Name
  • Certificate of Choice of Personal Names for Parents of Abandoned or Unidentified Children
  • Certificate of Choice of Personal Name for the Father of a Child with Unknown Paternity
  • Certificate of Proof of Material or Substantive Error
  • Certificate of Inheritance
  • Certificate of Sole Wife Status
  • Certificate of Identity Verification for the Deceased

This initiative eliminates redundant paperwork, targeting documents often cited as obstacles in everyday administrative tasks, such as obtaining identification, registering marriages, or managing inheritance.
