School Suspension in Several Educational Institutions in the Taounate Region Due to Weather Forecasts

According to “Fes News,” in preparation for the severe weather conditions expected in several regions of Morocco, including the Taounate region, classes have been suspended in a number of educational institutions. This decision came after the Directorate General of Meteorology issued an alert (Bulletin No. 25/2025) on March 7, 2025, warning of heavy rainfall expected to affect the region starting on Saturday.

According to informed sources, the regional education directorate has issued a notice to school principals, warning them of the dangerous weather conditions and stressing the need for coordination with local authorities, school transport associations, and parent associations. They have also been instructed to activate monitoring cells within schools to closely monitor the situation and prevent any problems that could arise due to the heavy rainfall.

In this regard, the regional education directorate has called for meetings with local authorities to discuss the situation and make the appropriate decision to suspend classes in schools that may be at risk, especially those located near valleys and streams or schools that are far from students’ residences. Some schools have already begun implementing these measures, with reports of monitoring cells convening to suspend classes in affected areas.
