The Directorate General of Meteorology has issued a warning about expected snowfall in areas above 1600 meters and strong thunderstorms with hail in several regions of Morocco today, Thursday.
In an updated orange-level alert, the Directorate confirmed that snowfall, ranging from 5 to 15 centimeters, is expected in mountainous areas across several provinces, including Al Haouz, Azilal, Midelt, Tinghir, Beni Mellal, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Ifrane, and Boulemane. The snowfall is anticipated to last from 9 AM to 6 PM.
The alert also mentions that heavy rain with thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, is expected in the regions of Fes, Moulay Yacoub, and Taounate, with rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 50 mm between 10 AM and 4 PM.
Additionally, this weather phenomenon is expected to continue in regions including Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Jerada, Berkane, Driouch, Nador, and Boulemane, starting from 1 PM to 7 PM.
The Directorate General of Meteorology urges all citizens, particularly those in the affected regions, to take necessary precautions and to stay informed to ensure public safety.
