A schoolgirl, identified as (S.B.), from Douar Al-Makmel in the commune of Ratba, Taounate province, succumbed to her injuries after being involved in a serious road accident last Saturday.
The incident occurred when the girl suffered a severe head injury after being struck by a large cargo truck while crossing the road. She was rushed to the University Hospital Center in Fes in an attempt to save her life, but unfortunately, she passed away on Monday due to her injuries.
Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the circumstances of the accident. Some sources suggest that overcrowding in school transport buses, combined with high speed on a winding road, led to some students falling from the back door of a school bus, resulting in injuries. These sources claim that the deceased girl was on her way to help her friends fetch water and onions from her nearby home when she was struck by the truck, leading to her fatal injuries.
However, a local source denied this version of events, stating that the accident had no connection to school transport overcrowding or speeding. According to this source, the girl was directly hit by a cargo truck while crossing the road, and no incidents involving school buses were recorded in the area on that day.
