The president of a social-focused association in Fez praised the strict decisions issued by the Ministry of Interior and the Fez-Meknes regional governorship to regulate charitable work and prevent the distribution of Ramadan aid without obtaining a public charity license.
The spokesperson confirmed that the situation in Fez has become very serious, with some individuals and associations exploiting the charitable cover for suspicious purposes. She pointed out that legal violations have gone beyond mere political or electoral exploitation, reaching in some cases practices akin to human trafficking. This includes forcing beneficiaries to provide personal data or exploiting them in activities unrelated to charitable work.
The spokesperson emphasized that these new measures will help protect the dignity of Fez citizens by imposing strict legal oversight to ensure that aid reaches those who truly deserve it, rather than those being exploited for personal or political gain.
She added that serious associations, which operate with a genuine spirit of volunteerism and noble humanitarian initiatives, will not be harmed by these decisions. On the contrary, they will find in the enforcement of the public charity license law a guarantee of integrity and transparency, which will cut off opportunities for brokers and those who trade in the suffering of the poor.
She concluded by stating that civil society in Fez must reclaim its true role in development and social solidarity, free from any exploitation or deviation from ethical and humanitarian principles. She called on all associations to comply with the law and work within a framework of transparency and responsibility for the benefit of vulnerable groups who need genuine support without extortion or exploitation.
